Due to dangerous wind chills of -17°F on Saturday, December 13, we’re moving the Aberdeen Santa Run 5K to Saturday, December 20 at 10 a.m. at Wylie Park for everyone’s safety!
Aberdeen Santa Run 5k Fun Run/Walk
Join hundreds of Santas and other holiday characters for a fun run and/or walk through Wylie Park in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Santa suits are provided to participants 13 years of age and older as part of their registration packet. Running and/or walking in Santa suits is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!
Everyone of all ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate. Registration is now open with early bird pricing available.
Participants will put on their Santa suits and complete a 3.1-mile course through Wylie Park while celebrating the holiday season and supporting a local organization. For this inaugural year, all proceeds will benefit the Warner Public Schools Cross Country program.
The Race
The Santa Run 5K Fun Run/Walk
- The race has been postponed – It will now be on Saturday, December 20 – Same time and place!
- Everyone 13 and older runs or walks a 5K in a Santa suit (included in your race packet)
- The course will start and finish within Wylie Park
- PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED – PETS CANNOT ENTER THE ZOO AND DUE TO LIABILITY CONCERNS, PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE COURSE.
Schedule of Events:
- Packet Pickup: Friday, December 12, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday, December 19, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Shoe Science on Main, 315 S Main St, Aberdeen, SD
- Race Check-in: Saturday, December 20 – Wylie Park – The Birdhouse at 8 a.m.
- Race Line-up: 9:45 a.m.
- Race Welcome: 10 a.m.
- Race Begins: 10:15 a.m.
- Free Post-Race Hot Chocolate & Holiday Treats: Wylie Park – The Birdhouse, 11 a.m.
Registration Fees:
- Registration Extended: $30 until Saturday, December 20 at 9:45 a.m.
- All net proceeds benefit Warner Public Schools Cross Country program.

- Race day packet pickup: Saturday, December 20 from 8 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. at The Birdhouse at Wylie Park
Parking: Available within Wylie Park
Restrooms: Only porta-potties will be available since all park facilities are shut down for the season
Weather Policy & Cancellation
In case of severe weather or event cancellation, no refunds will be issued, and the race will become a virtual race. All participants will still receive their complete registration package including:

- Christmas Ornament (Medal)
