About the Aberdeen Santa Run 5K
The 2025 Aberdeen Santa Run 5K Fun Run/Walk is the inaugural year for this fun community event to be introduced in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Santa Runs have been popular in many communities, and participating will be an experience all its own. You do not need to be an athlete to compete – this is a perfect 5K for anyone wanting to add to their bucket list. For the first year, Aberdeen Santa Run has partnered with Warner Public School Cross Country. If this is a successful inaugural year, the plan is to continue to host the event every year.
What is a Santa Run?
A Santa Run is a festive holiday tradition where participants dress up in Santa suits (and other holiday costumes) to run or walk a designated course together. These events have become beloved community traditions across the country, bringing people of all ages and fitness levels together to celebrate the holiday season while supporting local causes. The sight of hundreds of Santas running through town creates a joyful, memorable experience for both participants and spectators alike.
Why Wylie Park?
For the first year, the course was decided to be hosted at Wylie Park in Aberdeen, SD. This decision was made to help with logistics of hosting a 5K in an enclosed area without shutting down streets or requiring many volunteers. Wylie Park provides a beautiful, scenic setting for our 5K fun run/walk while keeping the event manageable and safe for our inaugural year.
Our Mission
We’re excited to bring this joyful tradition to Aberdeen and support our local community. All proceeds from the 2025 Aberdeen Santa Run will benefit the Warner Public Schools Cross Country program, helping young athletes pursue their passion for running.
